Tailor-made luxury safaris with private vehicles...
Real Africa offers high quality tailor-made holidays to Africa and the Indian Ocean. Nobody but you knows your exact interests and preferences, so working with our experienced consultants we work out the perfect itinerary to match these requirements.
From luxury lodges to remote camps, small guest-houses to exclusive resorts, we select from our portfolio of properties to ensure that they are perfect for you.
In Eastern Africa you travel in your own private vehicle with your own guide. In Southern Africa you can opt to either self-drive or be driven. Everywhere on your luxury safari you are looked after impeccably. Travelling as a private group, whether you are a couple, family or group of friends, means that you can decide exactly what you want to do, stopping whenever you want to rather than at set photo-stops. You can also stop for as long as you wish if something is of particular interest.

What type of safaris do Real Africa offer?
We offer all sorts, using different styles of accommodation, types of transport and duration of safari.
Lodge safaris.
We have a large selection of safari lodges for you to choose from. They vary from private properties where you have exclusive use to larger hotels. There are several specialist safari accommodation companies, such as
Sopa, Serena , Simba and Elewina who offer excellent lodges in various National Parks and which can be combined to form a safari tour. Their size varies from a few rooms to up to 70 or 80, all offer excellent restaurants and facilities like swimming pools. Rooms are twin/double and have en suite facilities.
Fixed Camping safaris
Fixed camps is a marriage between the excitement of camping in Africa with the comfort of a lodge. You may be staying in a safari tent, but it has wooden floors, a permanent en suite bathroom attached and often a thatched roof over the canvas. They are fitted out with large beds, dressing table and comfortable chairs, and often have their own wooden veranda overlooking a view. Staying in a fixed camp you get the noises of the African night while giving up none of the luxuries. many have electricity in the rooms and power sockets for charging cameras and ipods.
Mobile Camping safari
Mobile camps are ones that are taken down at the end of the dry season. You still get a proper bed to sleep on as well at tables and chairs, but the whole structure is less permanent, including the en suite facilities. The advantage of such a camp is that you get to stay in true wilderness, an environment that hasn't been impacted on and which will show no sign of the camps existence once its been removed. You get to stay in remote locations that permanent lodges and camps doesn't exist or are not allowed to be built. Some of the best mobile camps are in destinations like Zambia.
Drive-in safaris
On many of our safaris in East Africa you have your own private vehicle and guide. The advantage of this is that they are with you from the moment you land at the airport to the moment they drop you there at the end. You are able to stop to take a break or a photo whenever you wish, and you have an experienced driver who is able to answer your questions not only on the flora and fauna, but also on life in the country you are visiting. For many of our clients the relationship they develop with their driver guide is one of the highlights of the tour, many requesting the same driver on their next safari. On a driving safari you get to see the whole country - towns, villages, farms and fields, not just the National Parks and reserves. The downside, is that African roads can be bumpy and slow.
Fly-In safaris
For those with less time, or those who want to visit remote areas on their safari, using small planes to get from Park to Park is the best solution. We offer
safari weekends on which we fly you directly to your lodge or camp to ensure you get the most out of your three days away. If you wish for a luxury safari in Zambia or Botswana the distances involved and remoteness of the camps make the flights a necessity. Even on some of our drive-in safaris we include one or two flights to take out the longest journeys, such as our
Tanzania in Luxury safari on which we fly you back to Arusha from the Serengeti.
Our prices:
Some companies promote their holidays on their cheap and discounted prices. At Real Africa we offer high-quality tailor-made tours that are excellent value for money.
Many of our tours are private, in many instances with your own driver and guide. The lodges, camps and hotels we use are some of the best available and offer an authentic and luxurious experience. We want you to experience and enjoy the real Africa at a fair price, rather than staying in larger international hotels and travelling in a group minibus or coach.
We value our clients, which is why many travel with us again. If they felt we did not offer value for money, they would vote with their feet.
