Arguably Berg-en-dal is one of the most attractive camps in the whole of the Kruger National Park. The camp is situated on the bank of the Matjulu Spruit (spring) with a dam bordering the camp and dry riverbeds on the northern and southern sides. Berg-en-dal is about 83 km from Paul Kruger Airport and 70 km from Skukuza Airport. This camp is one of the newest in the Kruger Park as it was only built in the 1980s and it offers modern chalets instead of the more traditional thatched bungalows called rondavels.

The buildings in Berg-en-Dal are set within the natural bush and the gardens planted with flowering shrubs and aloes. Great care has been taken to preserve the natural vegetation in the camp area. The camp is surrounded by rocky hillsides covered in Malelane Mountain Bushveld (woodland) which attracts a variety of grazing animals. Berg-en-dal Rest Camp has various facilities, like a shop, restaurant, and a petrol station (for those on self drive itineraries).

Our clients stay at Berg en Dal as part of a visit to Kuger, usually combining it with one or two of the other official camps. The roads between these camps are all drivable so it is a popular way of doing self-drive safari in this huge National Park.
