(minimum 2 passengers) A Private safari visiting Luangwa National Park and the Lower Zambezi. It also includes a stay at Victoria Falls.
On this safari you have the opportunity of seeing one of the natural wonders of the world, and exploring a remote and little visited corner of Africa. You will stay in some excellent camps in two of Zambias leading Parks, and also get to visit the world-famous Victoria Falls. Due to the remote location, this tour will only operate in the dry season from June to October.
This is a private tour (minimum 2). It can depart on any day you wish (subject to availability).
Please let us know you preferred dates and we will forward a full tailored itinerary with confirmed quotation to you by e-mail and/or post.
Day 1 Depart the UK in the evening.
Day 2 After a non-stop flight to Johannesburg, you connect to your flight to Livingstone. On arrival at Livingstone, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your lodge.
Day 3 Today, take this opportunity to do one of the numerous activities included in
your stay at Tongabezi. These include game drives, fishing, cruises, bird walks,
canoeing, visit the Zambian side of Victoria Falls and Livingstone markets.
Park fees and entry fees are included. Victoria Falls is a magnificent natural
wonder of the world, and in many ways defies description. So vast are the Falls
and their setting that it is difficult to grasp their true grandeur. Columns of spray
can be seen from miles away as 546 million cubic meters of water per minute
plummet over the edge (at the height of the flood season) over a width of nearly
two kilometers into a deep gorge over 100 meters below. The wide basalt cliff,
over which the falls thunder, transforms the Zambezi from a wide placid river to
a ferocious torrent cutting through a series of dramatic gorges. A path along the
edge of the forest provides the visitor who is prepared to brave the tremendous
spray with an unparalleled series of views of the Falls. Dinner and overnight
Tongabezi.
Day 4 After breakfast, you will be met by our representative and transferred to
Livingstone Airport. Your flight (via Lusaka) is to Mfuwe. Your lodge is located in a private reserve, in close proximity to the quiet Nsefu section of the Luangwa National Park. One of the highlights of the Nsefu sector is the abundance of 'Luangwa Wafwas' (literally 'dead Luangwas'). These are dried out oxbow lakes that have been replaced by lush grasslands, and attract game in large numbers. This sector of the park is famous for its concentrations of plains game (which in turn attract predators), especially huge herds of buffalo that move around in the area. This valley, which forms the tail end of the Great Rift Valley, supports one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife to be found anywhere in the world. The Luangwa River, which meanders through the middle of the park, is the lifeblood of the wildlife. It is a dynamic river, which constantly changes its course as it winds through the flood plain. In the dry season, when the pools and streams are dry, the Luangwa River attracts animals from far and wide. Seasonal changes are very pronounced in Luangwa. The dry season begins in April and intensifies through to October, the hottest month when game concentrations are at their height. Nearly every pool deep enough, will support up to several hundred pods of hippo. The concentration of game around this river is enormous. It also plays host to a wide variety of birds and vegetation. Warm sunny days and chilly nights typify the dry winter months of May to August. The rains begin in November as the leaves turn green, and the dry bleak terrain becomes a lush jungle. The rainy season lasts up until the end of March and the migrant birds arrive in droves. During this time, most lodges are closed as they are inaccessible. Overnight Tafika Camp.
Days 5-7 Activities include game drives, walking safaris and in the wet season, boating
and canoeing and exceptional bird watching. Morning game drives leave early
after a light buffet while afternoon/night drives depart camp following afternoon
tea and cake. All the safari vehicles are open, comfortable and accommodate 4
to 6 passengers, allowing good photographic opportunities. Sundowners are
usually taken overlooking the Luangwa River, after which a spotlight is brought
into play, revealing the fascinating world of Africa's nocturnal wildlife.

and canoeing and exceptional bird watching. Overnight Tafika Camp.
Day 8 After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Mfuwe for your onward flight
to the Lower Zambezi (via Lusaka). The beauty of the Lower Zambezi National Park is its state of absolute wilderness. Lying in a valley between the rolling hills of the hazy escarpment and the Zambezi River, it is sprinkled with reed islands, which are home and feeding ground for many animals. These waters are a focal point for elephant, hippo, buffalo, zebra, lion, leopard, various antelope species, baboon and vervet Monkeys, together with a great variety of birds. The wildlife punctuates this landscape perfectly, leaving the visitor often at a loss as to which to admire more, the scenery or the animals.
Day 9 Sausage Tree Camp offers a large range of game-viewing activities including:
game-drives (both day and night), walking safaris, canoeing, boating and fishing
for the world-renowned "Tiger fish". With personalized guiding, guests decide
exactly what activity they would like to take and when. All the guides are fully
trained, licensed and have many years of experience ensuring that the highest
standards are delivered and achieved. Overnight Sausage Tree Camp.
Day 10 After breakfast, you will be met and transferred to Mfuwe Airport for your
onward flight to Lusaka and Johannesburg.
