(minimum 2 passengers) A Private safari visiting 2 camps in Luangwa National Park and a stay at Victoria Falls.
On this safari you have the opportunity of seeing one of the natural wonders of the world, and exploring a remote wildlife sanctuary. This is an ideal safari for those wishing to visit a part of Africa that is off the beaten track, without having to cover great distances. Due to the remote location, this tour will only operate in the dry season from June to October.
This is a private tour (minimum 2). It can depart on any day you wish (subject to availability).
Please let us know you preferred dates and we will forward a full tailored itinerary with confirmed quotation to you by e-mail and/or post.
Day 1 Depart the UK in the evening.
Day 2 After a non-stop flight to Johannesburg, you connect to your flight to Livingstone. On arrival at Livingstone Airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel
Day 3 Today, take this opportunity to visit Victoria Falls. This magnificent natural
wonder of the world, in many ways defies description. So vast are the Falls and
their setting that it is difficult to grasp their true grandeur. Columns of spray can
be seen from miles away as 546 million cubic meters of water per minute
plummet over the edge (at the height of the flood season) over a width of nearly
two kilometers into a deep gorge over 100 meters below. The wide basalt cliff,
over which the falls thunder, transforms the Zambezi from a wide placid river to
a ferocious torrent cutting through a series of dramatic gorges. A path along the
edge of the forest provides the visitor who is prepared to brave the tremendous
spray with an unparalleled series of views of the Falls.
Day 4 After breakfast, you will be met by our representative and transferred to
Livingstone Airport. Your flight (via Lusaka) is to Mfuwe, in the southern part of the Luangwa National Park. This valley, which forms the tail end of the Great Rift Valley, supports one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife to be found anywhere in the world. The Luangwa River, which meanders through the middle of the park, is the lifeblood of the wildlife. It is a dynamic river, which constantly changes its course as it winds through the flood plain. In the dry season, when the pools and streams are dry, the Luangwa River attracts animals from far and wide. Seasonal changes are very pronounced in Luangwa. The dry season begins in April and intensifies through to October, the hottest month when game concentrations are at their height. Nearly every pool deep enough, will support up to several hundred pods of hippo. The concentration of game around this river is enormous. It also plays host to a wide variety of birds and vegetation. Warm sunny days and chilly nights typify the dry winter months of May to August. The rains begin in November as the leaves turn green, and the dry bleak terrain becomes a lush jungle. The rainy season lasts up until the end of March and the migrant birds arrive in droves. During this time, most lodges are closed as they are inaccessible.
Day 5 Activities include early morning and late afternoon/night game drives during
which lion and leopard are often seen. During the heat of the day, when the
animals are at rest, return to the lodge for lunch and a rest or relax in the pool.
Should you feel energetic, the lodge offers walking safaris for closer contact
with the game and exceptional bird watching. Dinner and overnight Mfuwe
Lodge.
Day 6 After your early morning game drive and breakfast, you will be transferred to
your next camp located in a different region of the Luangwa National Park.
Days 7-8 Spend two full days in this paradise. Chamilandu specialise in guided walking
safari’s which are a constant mix of awe and information, excitement and
inspiration. You will be accompanied by top class guides who offer you the
chance to walk as Livingstone once did, among pristine untouched Africa.
Catering for all safari tastes the camp offers both morning and evening walks
and combinations of day and night game drives. After a dawn walk, enjoy a
hearty brunch then relax before a late afternoon game drive.
Day 9 After breakfast, you will be met and transferred to Mfuwe Airport for your
onward flight to Lusaka and Johannesburg.
