A comprehensive private tour of Uganda’s most famous and beautiful parks. You get to trek to Gorillas and chimpanzees, explore by vehicle, foot and boat. Standard and Upgrade properties available.
This is a more leisurely and thorough tour than our Primate Express, spending longer in the National Parks to allow you to explore in greater depth the attractions of the country. Chimpanzees and Gorillas are still high on the agenda, with a full day to try to see each. It takes you to all the main National Parks, including Murchison Falls and offers the chance to see no less than 12 other species of primate. Add in the varied and breath-taking scenery, plus the exceptional flora and fauna and you have a real trip of a life time.

Day 1
Depart the UK.
Day 2
Day One: one of our company representatives will pick you from the airport and transfer you to the Airport. Overnight stay at Imperial Golf View (St)/Lake View Hotel Entebbe (Up).
Day 3
After an early breakfast, drive to Murchison falls National Park, the most beautiful protected area in Uganda. Have a stop in Masindi and continue on to the top of the falls. Overnight stay at Red Chilli Lodge (St)/Paraa Safari Lodge (Up).
Day 4
Wake up to an early morning game drive that usually starts at 7.00 am. Return to the Lodge for a late breakfast at 11.00 am. After lunch, go for a Launch cruise to the bottom of the falls; the hippos and crocodiles are amazing. Murchison Falls Protected Area comprises of Murchison Falls National Park, Bugungu and Karuma Wildlife Reserves. Murchison Falls National Park derives its name from the Murchison Falls where the mighty River Nile explodes through a narrow gorge and flows down to become a placid river whose banks are thronged with hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks and buffaloes. The vegetation is characterized by savannah, riverine forest and woodland. Wildlife includes lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeests, oribis, Uganda kobs, chimpanzees and many bird species including the rare shoebill.
Day 5
After an early breakfast with packed lunches, transfer to Kibale Forest National Park in Fort portal town. Enjoy the crater lakes this region has to offer on your way to Primate Lodge (St)/Ndali Lodge (Up).
Day 6
Have an early breakfast by 7.00 am and proceed to the park headquarters at Kanyanchu for briefing before going on the chimpanzee trek in Kibale Forest. You will carry packed lunch from your lodge and lots of drinking water. In the afternoon, we shall go for a swamp walk in Bigodi Swamp.
Lake Mburo National Park is a fascinating place; every part of it is alive with variety, interest and color and containing an extensive area of wetland. The park harbors several species of mammals including zebras, impalas, elands, topi and buffaloes. Its sculptured landscape with rolling grassy hills and idyllic lakeshores has a varied mosaic of habitats: forest galleries, rich acacia tree valleys, seasonal and permanent swamps which all support a wealth of wildlife. The park is only 370sq km and the smallest of Uganda’s savannah national parks.
Day 7
After an early breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National park arriving in time for lunch. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya Hotel (St)/Mweya Safari Lodge (Up).
Day 8
Get up ready for a 6.30 am morning game drive heading for the mating grounds of the Uganda Kobs and return to the lodge for a late breakfast. After lunch, go for a Launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel at 15.00 hours. Kazinga channel is a natural strip that joins Lake Edward to Lake George and actually this is one of your highlights on safari.
Day 9
Standard itinerary: Another full day to explore the Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Upgrade itinerary: After an early breakfast, transfer to Ishasha arriving in the afternoon. Overnight stay at Ishasha Wilderness Camp (Up) . This exclusive tented camp has recently opened and offers quality accommodation in this unspoilt remote southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park famous for it’s tree climbing lions that can sometimes be spotted resting in the branches of the large fig trees in the area. Combined with excellent game viewing opportunities for buffalo, elephants, kob, topi and other species of antelope.
Day 10
After an early breakfast, go for an early morning game drive. Ishasha sector ranks with the most alluring game viewing areas in the country. This region is also popular for the tree climbing lions and if we are lucky, we shall spot some. Thereafter, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park arriving in time for lunch at the lodge. The park derives its name from its thick vegetation with an immense variety of evergreen trees, festooned with lianas, epiphytes, which reach great heights in their search for sunlight plus half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Camp (St)/Mahogany Spring s(Up) .
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is situated in south western Uganda, on the edge of the Western Rift Valley. It is 331 sq km in size and on an altitude range of 1,160 metres (Ishasha gorge) to 2,607 metres (Rwamanyonyi Peak). The annual average temperature range is 7°C - 20°C with the coldest period being June and July.
Most famously Bwindi is home to 326 gorillas, almost a half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas. There are also 346 species of birds and over 200 species of butterflies. This afro montane forest has dense under canopy flora of fern, vines and shrubs. About 324 tree species have been recorded here, 10 of which occur nowhere else in Uganda.
Bwindi is the bird watchers haven! It holds 346 species of birds and contains 90% of all Albertine rift endemics, difficult or impossible to see in any other part of East Africa and seven IUCN red data listed species.
Day 11
Enter the forest at dawn and enjoy the beauty and freshness of the park, home to more than half off the world’s mountain gorillas. After a short briefing by the guides, proceed through the dense bush to trek for these endangered animals. Enjoy the gorillas as they feed their young or play.
Gorilla Tracking: This is the major activity in Bwindi, with four gorilla groups currently available daily for tourists. Mubare group (10 gorillas, 1 silverback) was opened for tourism in 1993, Habinyanja group (18 gorillas, 1 silverback) opened in July 1998, Rushegura group (10 gorillas, 1 silverback) was opened in July 2002, while Nkuringo group (19 gorillas, 2 silverbacks) was opened for tourism in April 2004. Bitukura group was opened up in 2008; it has got 13 gorillas and one silverback. The Largest of all is called Nshongi; this was recently opened in June, 2009. It has got 34 gorillas and is believed to be the largest gorilla group in the world.
Day 12
After an early breakfast, transfer to Lake Mburo National Park arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Arcadia Cottages (St)/Mihingo Lodge (Up). Mburu contains an extensive area of wetland and is home to several species of mammals including zebras, impalas, elands, topi, buffaloes and birds. The park is only 370sq km and the smallest of Uganda’s savannah national parks. Its mosaic habitat: dry hillside, rocky outcrops, bushes, thickets, open and wooded savannahs, forests, lakes and swamps are home to a surprising diversity of plants and animals.
Day 13
After an early breakfast, we shall go for a game drive though the fringing swamp area and enjoy the rich biodiversity including large herds of zebra, impala, gigantic eland, topis and bird species like the African Finfoot, Lilac Breasted Roller, Handsome Francolin and the Black-bellied Bustard. The leopard, hyenas and jackal are the predators in the park Return to the lodge for breakfast. After an early lunch, transfer to Entebbe and arrive in time for your flight home to the UK.
