This safari takes you off the beaten track to the true wilderness area of Katavi; remote, undeveloped and bristling with wild animals. Its along way from anywhere and anyone, and is hard to beat for a pure wilderness safari. Katavi allows you to get up close and personal to the wildlife, with walking safaris and fly-camping available. You then fly to Lake Tanganyka, said to be the deepest lake in Africa. On its shores lie the Mahale Mountains; home to Tanzania’s chimpanzees. Here you will have the opportunity of seeing these magnificent primates in their natural habitat. The crystal clear water of Lake Tanganyika allow for some fantastic snorkeling, sunset cruises and great fishing.

This is a private safari (minimum 2 people). It can depart on any day you wish (subject to availability).

Day 1
Depart the UK.

Day 2
Transfer to Arusha. Dinner & Overnight Arusha Coffee Lodge.

Day 3
Morning flight to Katavi National Park. Lunch in camp followed by a afternoon game drive. Dinner & overnight Katuma Bush Camp.

Days 4-5
Two full days to explore the park by vehicle or on foot and discover the most secret parts. Dinner & overnight Katuma Bush Camp.

Day 6
Morning flight to Mahale National Park, arguably the best place in Africa for a chimpanzee safari. Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing on the beach or on a boat trip fishing and snorkelling. Dinner & overnight Kungwe Beach lodge.

Day 7-9
Three full days to do chimp treks, forest walks, or just lounge at the Camp and do snorkelling, swimming, or fishing. Kungwe Beach Lodge.

Day 10
Morning boat transfer to connect with your midday flight to Arusha. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to Kilimanjaro International airport.

Day 11
Arrive UK.
