If you want to experience Kenya from the comfort of your own vehicle then this one week safari is worth considering. From your arrival in Nairobi to being dropped back at the airport, you are accompanied by a driver guide who will stay with you throughout. As well as identifying the incredible animals on safari, they can tell you about the real Kenya, about their life there and you also have the freedom to stop whenever you want. This safari really offers you the unforgettable experience of seeing a country at your own pace with your own personal guide.

You start with a stay at Lake Naivasha and a day at the Nakuru National Park, famous for its rhino and flamingos. You then move on to the Masai Mara and spend 3 days game-viewing.

Day 1
Depart the UK.

Day 2
Arrive in Nairobi. You will be met on arrival by your guide and private vehicle and begin your safari with a pleasant drive to your lodge overlooking Lake Naivasha, probably Kenya’s most beautiful fresh water lake. Rest of the day free to relax. Option of boat trip on Lake Naivasha.

Day 3
After breakfast drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru, a large alkaline lake on the bed of the Great Rift Valley, has earned its fame as the home of one of the greatest bird spectacles in the world- a myriad of more than one million pink flamingos. They visit seasonally to feed on the abundant algae which thrive in its warm waters. Lake Nakuru has a great deal to offer besides its magnificent birdlife however; here you will also find lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino. You will view game in the morning before returning to your lodge by Lake Naivasha for a late lunch. Dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge

Day 4
After breakfast you will be driven across the floor of the stunning Great Rift Valley, the longest rift in the crust of the earth, to the Masai Mara. You will spend three nights in this natural paradise among zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, buffalo, elephant, antelope and gazelle. You will encounter prides of lion resting in the shade of acacia trees or lying low in the tall grass, in wait for their next prey. There is a good chance of spotting cheetah and if you are lucky, the shy leopard. Stay at the Mara Simba Lodge or the Karen Blixen Camp.

Day 5
Your second day in the Mara. A typical day on safari starts with a cup of tea or coffee at sunrise, before you embark on an early morning game drive. This will usually last until mid-morning, when you return for a large breakfast. There is then time to relax until lunch and around mid-afternoon, as the day cools and the animals become more active, you start your second game-drive until sunset. It is then back to camp for your evening meal and the chance to relax with a drink under the stars of the African night.

Day 6
Morning and evening game drives in the reserve on your last day.

Day 7
Leave the lodge after breakfast and head back to Nairobi, arriving in time for your flight to the UK.

Day 8
Arrive UK.
