14 days from £1,755.

A five day camping safari to Lake Nakuru and the Masai Mara Reserves, followed by a week on the beaches of the Indian Ocean.

This short safari lets you see two of the most famous reserves in Kenya, the world renown Masai Mara with its superb wildlife and Lake Nakuru, famous for its huge flock of flamingos. At the end there is a week to relax on the golden beaches near Mombasa reflecting on your experiences of the last few days.

The joy of camping in Kenya is that it allows you to get off the beaten track and experience the wilderness. In the Masai Mara you will stay at a semi-permanent camp where everything is ready when you arrive. At Nakuru you stay at a local guest house because there are no camping facilities in the park. You are accompanied by a driver/guide who will take you on game-drives, as well as a cook who will prepare all meals for you. The holiday ends with a week on the beaches of the Indian Ocean.

This tour departs several times every week. If you would like a private tour (minimum 2 people) it can start on any day for a small supplement per person.

Please let us know your preferred dates and we will forward a full tailored itinerary with confirmed price to you by e-mail and/or post.

Day 1
Depart the UK.

Day 2
Arrive in Nairobi. You are met by your guide and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, stopping for a picnic lunch en route. The afternoon is spent game viewing.

Lake Nakuru, a large alkaline lake on the bed of the great rift valley, has earnt its fame as the home of one of the greatest bird spectacles in the world- a myriad of more than one million pink flamingo, which seasonally use its waters to feed on the abundant algae which thrive in its warm waters. Lake Nakuru has a great deal to offer besides its magnificent birdlife however; here you will also find lion, leopard, buffalo and other savannah and forest game which makes the game viewing so worth while. It is also a great place to see Rhino.

Dinner and overnight at a nearby guest-house.

Day 3
After breakfast head off through the Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara, stopping en route for a picnic lunch. The afternoon is spent game viewing, before returning to the camp for dinner.

Day 4
Two full days in the Masai Mara. Each day with two game viewings, one in the morning and one again in the late afternoon. All meals and overnight in the camp.

The Masai Mara National Reserve is justly one of the best-known wildlife areas in Kenya. Here herds of elephants browse among rich, tree-studded grasslands. Thomsons gazelles, zebra, eland and many more species of savannah game offer a rich choice for the predatory lions, leopards and cheetahs that hunt in the reserve and the surrounding areas. It is the untouched life of Africa continuing as it has for 1,000's of years.

Day 5
Your second day in the Mara. A typical day on safari starts with a cup of tea or coffee at sunrise, before you embark on an early morning game drive. This will usually last until mid-morning, when you return for a large breakfast. There is then time to relax until lunch and about mid-afternoon, as the day cools and the animals become more active, you start your second game-drive until sunset. It is then back to camp for your evening meal and the chance to relax with a drink under the stars of the African night.

Day 6
After breakfast leave for Nairobi, arriving at the airport in time for your flight to Mombasa. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel, the Pinewood Village. Here you will stay for the next 7 nights on a half-board basis, the perfect place to relax at the end of your safari.
