Day 1 Depart the UK in the evening.
Day 2 After a non-stop flight to Johannesburg, you connect to your flight to Livingstone. On arrival you will be met and transferred across the border into Botswana. Access to Kasane, on the banks of the Chobe River, from Livingstone is a simple hour transfer on fine tarred roads. Your lodge is a short drive from Kasane. It lies on the banks of the Chobe River at the entrance to the Chobe National Park. Chobe is the second largest national park in Botswana and has one of the greatest concentrations of game found in Africa. Its uniqueness in the abundance of wildlife and the true African nature of the region, offers a safari experience of a lifetime. The park is divided into four distinctly different eco systems: Serondela with its lush plains and dense forests in the Chobe River area in the extreme north-east; the Savuti Marsh in the west; the Linyanti Swamps in the north-west and the hot dry hinterland in between. A major feature of the Park is the elephant population currently estimated at around 120,000. The Chobe elephant are migratory, making seasonal movements from the Chobe and Linyanti rivers, where they concentrate in the dry season, to the pans in the southeast of the park, to which they disperse in the rains. Dinner and overnight Chobe Safari Lodge.
Day 3 Five game activities are included in your stay. The lodge offers both game
drives and boat cruises into the Chobe National Park. The large diversity of
landscape and vegetation, with the great variety of bird life and game,
including large herds of buffalo, makes Chobe a wildlife experience not to be
missed. The game drives into the Chobe National Park follow the routes
along the Chobe riverfront, which supports the greatest abundance of wildlife
in the park. The three-hour sunset boat cruise, up the Chobe River into the
National Park, on the pontoon Fish Eagle, King Fisher or Chobe Belle offer a
pleasurable cruise with the luxury of a cash bar. Driven by the same thirst, the
animals also make their way to the waters edge in the afternoons, providing a
unique game viewing opportunity. Smaller boats may also be hired for game
viewing or fishing. For the more adventurous, the lodge also offers a night
drive into the Lesoma Valley. The more energetic can take part in a scenic
safari walk through the valley.
Day 4 On safari.
Day 5 After a light breakfast, you will be transferred to Kasane for your light aircraft
transfer into the Okavango Delta. After breakfast, you will be transferred to
the airstrip for your onward flight to your next camp, situated in the heart of
the Okavango Delta. It lies in a private concession, located to the west of the
Moremi Game Reserve. 6,000-square-mile maze of lagoons, channels, and
islands helps the Okavango Delta earn the description "the river that never
finds the sea". The Okavango Delta is unique. It is the largest inland delta in
the world, instead of flowing into the sea, the annual flood of fresh water
flows inland, spreading over 15 000km² of the Kalahari sand in a maze of
lagoons and channels. The countless islands that emerge from its waterways
give rise to several diverse ecosystems which in turn, are home to vast
numbers of game and a myriad birds. The crystal clear waters support many
kinds of fish and it is a birder’s paradise. This popular attraction is at its most
impressive in August when the champagne-coloured water is at its deepest.
Most of the young are born between November and March when the
vegetation is lush. The heart of the delta is accessed by air only and as it is an
exclusive destination, it remains relatively unpopulated and wild. Dinner and
overnight Pom Pom Camp.
Day 6 Pom Pom Safari Camp is surrounded by miles of intricate reeded waterways
in which mokoros offer wonderful means of viewing the wildlife as you glide
between palm-fringed islands on your way to the main channels. There you
will find the busy pied Kingfisher, along with countless other birds which
flourish in the waterways. One such bird native to the area is the African
Jacana or Lily Trotter which, with its long stick like legs, will run along the
top of Lilies without causing so much as a ripple. Game viewing at Pom Pom
Safari Camp is led by field staff who stalk the game with uncanny skill. Pom
Pom offers game activies including boating, game drives, night drives, walks
and mokoro safaris. All the big game can be encountered here. Birdlife is
abundant and enthusiasts can enjoy Pel’s Fishing Owl, African Fish Eagle,
Giant Eagle Owl, Pygmy Goose and other Okavango species.
Day 7 After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your onward flight to
Maun to connect onto your flight to Johannesburg.
