Day 1 Depart the UK in the evening.
Day 2 After a non-stop flight to Johannesburg, you connect to your flight to Maun. On arrival at Maun Airport you will be met by our representative and
transferred by light aircraft to Moremi Wildlife Reserve. This spectacular and beautiful game park is situated in a corner of the Okavango Delta and covers more than 1 000 square kilometers of grassy floodplains, winding waterways, palm-fringed islands, forest and lush, lily-covered lagoons. With its mix of wetlands and woodlands, it is a wonderful game viewing location. This is where hippos and crocodiles bathe and laze in crystal-clear waters, while the wide variety of vegetation is home to a magnificent collection of wildlife. Huge herds of impala and tsessebe roam the savanna, and waterbuck are common. Although much of the game is migratory, the choice grazing ensures game viewing all year round. However, in the dry season large herds of buffalo, wildebeest and zebra swarm back into the park from the Kalahari in search of food and water, and by the time the floods reach Moremi in July, the reserve is bursting with game. The rare sitatunga and lechwe antelope live in the papyrus banks of the waterways. Lion, cheetah and leopard hunt in the open veld, and the area is particularly good for wild dogs. The immense number of birds will delight everyone. Overnight at the Camp Okuti.
Day 3 During your stay, Camp Okuti offers a choice of two game viewing activities. Game drives in open safari vehicles where an abundance of large mammals can be found or powerboat excursions towards the upper delta, where, during breeding season, large concentrations of Herons and Storks may be seen at their nesting and procreation sites there are a variety of game activities which you can enjoy.
Day 4 After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your onward flight to
your next camp, situated deep in the Okavango Delta. 6,000-square-mile
maze of lagoons, channels, and islands helps the Okavango Delta earn the
description "the river that never finds the sea". The Okavango Delta is unique. It is the largest inland delta in the world, instead of flowing into the sea, the annual flood of fresh water flows inland, spreading over 15 000km² of the Kalahari sand in a maze of lagoons and channels. The countless islands that emerge from its waterways give rise to several diverse ecosystems which in turn, are home to vast numbers of game and a myriad birds. The crystal clear waters support many kinds of fish and it is a birder’s paradise. This popular attraction is at its most impressive in August when the champagne-coloured water is at its deepest. Most of the young are born between November and March when the vegetation is lush. The heart of the delta is accessed by air only and as it is an exclusive destination, it remains relatively unpopulated and wild. Dinner and overnight Kanana Camp
.
Day 5 During your stay, game activities are offered on foot or by water in a
mokoro. These eco-friendly dugout canoes built to the traditional design gives you the chance to experience the true Okavango Delta. You will reach areas which cannot be reached by land. The mokoro excursions enable you to be at one with the environment on the myriad of crystal clear waterways that make up the Okavango Delta. From this vantage point, you can obtain stunning views of both the wildlife and birdlife that congregate at the water’s edge.
Day 6 After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your onward flight to your next camp. You remain in the Okvango Delta and get the chance to explore this natural paradise for a further few days. Dinner and overnight at Shinde Camp.
Day 7 Game activities are exceptional in this area. The variety of birdlife is an ornithologist’s paradise. There is a well-quiped Delta craft to whisk you to see some important breeding colonies of Herons, Egrets, Pelicans and Storks. Animal life is no less fascinating with the chance to see rare Sitatunga antelope, large herds of Lechwe and wading elephants. Shinde's abundant wildlife and its silent Okavango waters combine to ensure a spectacular game viewing experience. You will have the opportunity to view game on game drives as well as water safari’s in traditional mokoro’s or motorboats for further exploration. You can take the opportunity to catch fish – perhaps for your dinner.
Day 8 You will be transferred to Maun Airport for your onward flight to Johannesburg. Here you will connect with your overnight, non-stop flight home to the UK.
