9 days from £3,495

(minimum 2 passengers) A private safari visiting Chobe and Savuti, Moremi Reserve and the Okavango Delta.

Botswana is one of Southern Africa's least visited and yet most fascinating destinations. It has a wide variety of habitats, from desert to wetlands and some of the finest game-viewing in Africa. For many years it has concentrated on high quality facilities, limiting the number of visitors annually to ensure that its reserves and parks are not damaged or saturated by mass tourism.

This tour takes you to all the main wildlife areas, staying in comfortable lodges in some remote areas. Transfers are a combination of road and plane.

This is a private tour (minimum 2). It can depart on any day you wish (subject to availability).

Please let us know you preferred dates and we will forward a full tailored itinerary with confirmed quotation to you by e-mail and/or post. Please note that game-drives will be done in the lodges vehicles/boats and will be shared.

Day 1 Depart the UK in the evening.

Day 2 After a non-stop flight to Johannesburg, you connect to your flight to Livingstone. On arrival at Livingstone Airport you will be met by our representative and transferred by road to Kasane, which lies on the banks of the Chobe River. Access to Kasane from Livingstone is a simple hour transfer on fine tarred roads. On arrival, you will have a safari briefing, followed by a relaxing cruise on the Chobe river. This will give you a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the sights of elephants, hippos, crocodiles and a wide variety of water and land birds from the comfort of the boat. On our return to shore, lunch is served before departing for a game-drive en-route to your campsite in the Chobe National Park. This park is the second largest national park in Botswana and has one of the greatest concentrations of game found on the African continent. Its uniqueness in the abundance of wildlife and the true African nature of the region, offers a safari experience of a lifetime. A major feature of Chobe National Park is the elephant population currently estimated at around 120,000. The Chobe elephant are migratory, making seasonal movements of up to 200 km from the Chobe and Linyanti rivers, where they concentrate in the dry season, to the pans in the southeast of the park, to which they disperse in the rains. Dinner and overnight Chobe Game Lodge.

Day 3 After a light breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for a charter flight to Savuti. Savuti is located in the Western corner of the Chobe National Park. Often described as one of, if not the best, wildlife-viewing areas in Africa today. Savuti boasts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife left on the African continent. Enjoy the experience of untamed Africa once again on a late afternoon game-drive, returning to the camp just after sunset. Dinner and overnight Savuti Safari Lodge.

Day 4 Spend a full day exploring this wonderful park. Wake up with the birds to experience the thrill of an African sunrise. Enjoy an early morning game- drive. This is a perfect time for a game drive, as the animals are most active during the early morning and early evening, when the heat is not too intense. A stop to see the bushman paintings is included. The majority of game to be found in this area are present during all seasons, and at certain times of the year their numbers can be staggering. The major species including giraffe, elephant, zebra, impala, tsessebe, roan, sable, wildebeest, kudu, buffalo, waterbuck, warthog, eland and accompanying predators including lion, hyena, jackal, bat-eared fox and possibly even cheetah and wild dog, are all found in this region. Perhaps take a waterborn game activity in the afternoon. Return to the lodge at sunset. Dinner and overnight Savuti Safari Lodge. .

Day 5 After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your charter flight to Moremi Game Reserve. Moremi is a beautiful wildlife reserve – it combines mopane woodland and acacia forests, floodplains and lagoons. Moremi is best visited in the dry season and game viewing is at its peak from July to October, when seasonal pans dry up and the wildlife concentrates on the permanent water. At any time of the year, game is prolific. Rest and relax until the afternoon's game-drive. Dinner and overnight Camp Moremi.

Day 6 Spend a full day exploring this wonderful reserve. You'll be thrilled by the excitement of tracking animals in open Land Rovers - game drives are conducted by experienced naturalists. Bird watching is excellent throughout the year, with a visit to the heronries on Gadikwe Island by powerboat. It is the great diversity of plant and animal life that makes Moremi so well known. The reserve contains within its boundaries approximately twenty percent of the Okavango Delta. Birdlife is prolific and varied, ranging from waterbirds to shy forest dwellers. There are many species of ducks end geese, as well as an amazing variety of heron. Elephants are numerous, particularly during the dry season, as well as a range of other wildlife species from buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, hyaena, jackal and the full range of antelope, large and small, including the red lechwe. Wild dog, whose numbers are so rapidly dwindling elsewhere, are regularly sighted in the Moremi and have been subject to a project being run in the area since 1989. Dinner and overnight Camp Moremi.

Day 7 This morning after a light breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your charter flight to Xugana Island Lodge. Alternatively, you may transfer to the island by boat. This lodge is situated on a wooded island abutting the Xugana lagoon. It is part of the Xugana private concession - widely accepted as being the most spectacular permanent water site in the entire Delta. The island is one of Botswana’s most unique wildlife and wilderness sanctuaries. It is in the permanent Delta, a world of crystal clear waterways winding through vast reed and papyrus beds, opening unexpectedly onto tranquil lagoons, home to bream, catfish and the fighting tiger-fish and fringed by secret wooded islands, haven for the magnificent bird and wildlife that inhabit the Delta. Dinner and overnight Xugana Island Lodge.

Day 8 Spend a full day in this paradise. Activites include mokoro trips in eco- friendly dugout canoes built to the traditional design, boat safaris to lagoons and islands and wilderness walks give guests the chance to see the Delta denizens such as sitatunga and lechwe antelope, crocodile and hippo, as well as the other big game that frequents the islands and riverine fringes. Bird- watching opportunities are outstanding, and the bream and tiger fishing can be excellent at certain times of the year. The peaceful boat ride back across Xugana Lagoon during the spectacular African sunset provides a lifelong memory. All activities are conducted by our experienced naturalist guides, who, as well as ensuring that guests come to no harm, are keen to impart their vast knowledge and love of this unique area. Dinner and overnight Xugana Island Lodge.

Day 9 After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your onward flight to Kasane. On arrival you will be met by our representative and transferred to Livingstone in time foryou’re your onward flight to Johannesburg. Here you will connect with your overnight, non-stop flight home to the UK.
