Here at Real Africa we send a huge number of people to Kenya on safari and Keekorok Lodge is one of our most popular lodges. Most of our travellers to Kenya pick our classic
Kenya Lodge Safari with beach extension .
This safari is popular because it covers all the main wildlife areas in Kenya including Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru and of course the world famous Masai Mara. This tour is also excellent for those looking for a bit of relaxation on the beautiful Indian Ocean beaches at the end.
We use a locally owned safari lodge called
Keekorok Lodge for our stay in the Mara. This lodge was the first to be built in the Masai Mara and was built in one of the best locations for game viewing. The lodge lies in the southern end of the Masai Mara and offers an unbeatable vantage point for the annual migration as it is on one of the main routes taken by the wildebeest and zebra (and accompanying predators!). During the migration period the lodge can be surrounded by a seething mass of animals meaning you don’t have to go far to see one of nature’s most incredible spectacles. Keekorok Lodge also has a fantastic waterhole which is served by a wooden walkway and bar area for those wishing to watch the animals at close hand from the comfort of your lodge.
The lodge itself is built from wood and river stone in the local vernacular and fits comfortably into its surroundings. Rooms are based in a mix of bungalows, chalets and single storey blocks built around the lush and shady gardens. Each room has some outdoor space such as a verandah. There is also a lovely swimming pool for relaxing in. At the end of a long day game viewing you can relax by the roaring log fire with a drink or enjoy some Masai dancing. Keekorok also offers a great range of wildlife lectures and videos for those keen to really improve their local knowledge.
