Everybody who goes on a safari to Kenya wants to see the Big 5: Elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo and Rhino. But don't forget the birdlife We have just posted on our video page a short video of birds seen on a four day safari to the Rift valley and the Masai Mara. They range from the waders, eagles and kingfishers of the freshwater lakes, the pelicans and flamingos of the soda lakes to the large plain birds of the Mara.
The footage was all taken with a standard camcorder, nothing fancy, so you can see how close you get to some mighty big and impressive birdlife. And remember, these are just the bigger birds. The myriad of smaller ones that live in the grounds of the lodges and camps, along the river bands and in the forests are not included and offer fantastic viewing. Even their Common starling is a shimmering azure blue.
Our guides all have an excellent knowledge of the birds you can see wherever you are travelling to. On most of our safaris to Kenya and Tanzania you travel with your own guide in your own private vehicle. This means you can stop whenever you like for as long as you wish. If you have a special interest in ornithology let us and your guide know, and we can ensure you get the most out of your safari holiday without missing out on the big game as well.
